Further to the above, I was pleased to be able to attend the Pollies in the Pub event with Barnaby Joyce and Damian Drum, held in Shepparton on July 26th.
Whilst it was difficult to have a deep discussion due to crowd numbers, sadly, neither politician had anything of substance to say about the alleged theft of 'environmental water' by corporate cotton growers and wouldn't be drawn on the much discussed 450GL to be sent downstream.
Drummy only said that it's a 'difficult and highly emotive issue' - true, but what do you plan to do about it?
Whilst Barnaby seemed to suggest it was all a conspiracy by 4Corners to take more of our water - why or how wasn't explained.
It was a very odd and concerning event to witness...
