I've been jumping through the hoops of several financial institutions over recent months in an effort to refinance my home loan. In part, this is due to the expectation that the AEC's redistribution of Victorian electorates will see Euroa (where I currently live) moved to Indi, thus necessitating a move to Shepparton.
Several have told me that my house - despite being well within the Euroa town boundary, is "too rural" for them to hold as security. This phenomena was recently discussed in the media regarding outback QLD (which is bad enough for those communities), but for Euroa - thus, I would imagine Violet Town, Murchison, Dookie, Wunghnu, Tongala, Gunbower, Tungamah among others - is utterly ridiculous.
I'm hoping that our local Goulburn Murray Credit Union will have a more sensible approach than our major (and some minor) banks and mortgage lenders.
